These Terms of Use apply to the Hearken app and this website. By using either, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

About Hearken

Hearken is an independent scripture study tool. It is not made, sponsored, or endorsed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Names of scripture works and other referenced materials are used to identify study content, not to imply affiliation.

Educational use

Hearken provides reading, study, practice, and learning tools for personal educational use. App content, progress measures, quizzes, ranks, badges, and explanations are provided for general study and are not academic credentials, professional advice, or a guarantee of mastery or learning outcomes. Consider sources in context and use your own judgment.

Your use of the app

You may use Hearken for lawful personal study. You agree not to misuse the app, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, or use it in a way that infringes another person’s rights. You are responsible for content you create and for choosing who can access study-group content that you share.

Your content and data

You retain your rights to the notes and other original content you create. Hearken stores app data on your device and may sync it using your private iCloud account. Group content may be visible to invited participants. You are responsible for the information you choose to share. See the Privacy Policy for details about storage, services, and deletion.

Third-party content and services

Hearken may provide links to or integrations with services and content operated by others, including Apple, YouTube, scripture websites, and model-hosting providers. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. Hearken does not control or guarantee third-party services or content.

Scripture translations and other materials may have different copyright, licensing, and usage terms. You are responsible for observing applicable rights and terms when accessing, copying, or sharing material. Nothing in Hearken grants rights to third-party content beyond those provided by its rights holder.

Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features or content, and may update these terms when the service changes. The current terms and revision date will be posted here. Continued use after updated terms are posted means you accept the updated terms.

Hearken is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developer makes no warranties that the service will always be available, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use Hearken. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
